forte
Branding, Print Design
Project Overview
Forte is a concept brand I created from the ground up after a spontaneous photo shoot of my friend Zac jamming out on his guitar. I loved the energy of the images and wanted to imagine a professional context in which they could live. So I created Forte: a modern yet classical music education brand that publishes editorial content for music educators and musicians.
I started with the photography and brainstormed possible applications. From there, I developed the name, logo, and branding through trial and error. I knew I wanted something professional yet fun, with a nod to music history. The typeface I chose is commonly used in music notation, evoking a classical tone, while the logo combines a stylized f-hole from a string instrument and the forte symbol to reinforce the musical theme.
My first designs were overly complicated—packed with too many ideas at once. But through refinement and feedback, I pared the visual language down to a clean, minimalist system that still carried all the personality I wanted. I developed additional brand assets after the core identity was locked in, imagining how Forte might look across social platforms, article layouts, and promotional content. Though it wasn’t published or made for a real client, it was a deeply rewarding personal project that let me explore branding, typography, and editorial photography in a way that felt authentic and full of heart.
