AEJMC

Branding

Project Overview

This logo design was created for a national competition held by the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), which challenged designers to create a visual identity for their upcoming conference in San Francisco. The goal was to represent the city’s essence in a clean, scalable logo that would work across all event materials—from printed programs to signage and web graphics.

I approached the project by immersing myself in San Francisco’s visual landscape. I wanted to focus on bringing together iconic elements in a fresh, cohesive way. The final logo combines two recognizable symbols—the city’s historic trolley car and the Golden Gate Bridge—merged into a single dynamic mark that breaks through a black circle, using negative space to imply movement and energy.

The process involved many rounds of ideation and critique, especially from the professor who nominated me to enter the competition. I refined the composition until it was bold, clean, and versatile enough to serve across formats. Ultimately, my design won the contest and is now the official logo for the conference, featured on all event materials and communications. It was an incredible honor and one of the proudest moments of my design career so far.
